Darin could hardly wait to eat this guy.

What, haven't you ever seen lobster themed thongs?

Jim and Theresa, two of our dearest friends(who happen to live next door).

Do we look the part?

On Saturday evening, our friends hosted a "Cape Cod" style lobster bake. Although I don't eat lobster, we enjoyed dressing the part and drinking cape cod's. We are so fortunate to have such a great group of friends in our neighborhood.

Sweet Lainey.

Carrie, myself, and Casey.

Date night!

Last weekend, my best friend since 8th grade, Carrie, and her family came for a visit. We had such a nice visit.....the children get along great, the boys' enjoyed a golf outing, we had a date night on Friday and friends' from high school over on Saturday night. Carrie and I spent the first two days yapping like crazy and trying to catch-up on everything in our lives. You know you have a great friendship when you can go for months without speaking on the phone, and then pick right up where you left off. Carrie, come back ANYTIME--you and your family are great houseguests!!!

Checking out the "hippie van" in Santa Barbara.

These two are pure sweetness together.

Ellery and her BFF.

The crew at the Firestone Winery.

Darin toasting President Reagan.

Ever hear of the movie Sideways? This weekend, we went to the Santa Barbara wine country with our good friends', Jim and Theresa(and their daughter, Tatum). This was the location where they filmed Sideways. It is a beautiful area of the country and we had a great time swimming, hiking, and of course, drinking wine. We had a sitter on Friday night, so we ventured out to the Firestone Winery(yes, this is the Andrew Firestone Winery for you Bachelor fans), and then had dinner at the famous Hitching Post. A great weekend with good friends and great wine!

Silly Darn and Beth.

Swing Ellery, swing.
Hubba, hubba.

This boy loves his papa.

Checking out his stash.

We had a fun 4th of July at our neighbor's house. The children played baseball, went on a 4th prize hunt, and decorated cookies. We were supposed to go swimming, but our weather has been unusually cool for the past month. When it came time for the fireworks(our own neighborhood show), Ellery LOST it. She was terrified and insisted I hold her while she covered her ears. Dane was totally entertained by the sparklers and small display of fireworks. I am always a little concerned when the dads are lighting the fireworks after about 6 margaritas.....they seem to suddenly forget all sense of safety and rationale.
